Project Details
The design for this bathroom makeover worked with the existing floor plan of the original space. While no major structural changes were made to the plumbing layout, this was an excellent opportunity to update the outdated Polybutylene piping to a new PEX system.
To create a more open feeling, the built in tub deck and shower wall were removed and replaced with a freestanding tub and frameless glass shower. This opened up the room allowing it to fill with natural light. The efficient use of the existing space created an open concept without changing the original layout or floor plan.
The finishing details were hand selected to transform the outdated bathroom into a modern spa getaway. A new vanity with quartz countertops and his & hers sinks were installed. The old ceramic tile flooring was replaced with modern porcelain tile while a natural marble tile was chosen for the shower. A serene colour scheme and chrome fixtures completed the spa-like design.
With the new look came new environmentally conscious fixtures. Energy efficient LED lighting was used throughout. A low-flow toilet, aerated faucets, and water saving shower-head were installed to reduce water consumption. Replacing the built-in jet tub with a smaller capacity soaker tub provided the same comfortable feeling while using less hot water and no electricity.
